Nerd Alert!!!

I was slightly torn as to whether or not I should post my latest project I've been working on or not. I am extremely happy with how it has turned out, but at the same time, I'm a little embarrassed about how nerdy it proves me to be. But, since I'm not in high school anymore, and I don't really care (too much) if people know how nerdy I can be, my excitement to share has won out. So without further ado, I present my astronomy jewelry! **side note...I can't claim to have come up with this on my own. I copied the pieces fromhere**

Solar system necklace. The shortest strand represents the rocky planets, the middle strand represents the asteroid belt and the longest is the outer gas giants. The major moons are also represented. The distances between planets are proportionally represented. Each bead represents about 4 million miles (with the inner two strands using longer beads in order to make the strands fit around the neck)

Milky Way necklace. Each strand represents an arm of the galaxy. Earth is shown on the Orion spur. I have also represented the Omega Cluster, Eagle Nebula, Crab Nebula, Orion Nebula, and the Plieades. The approximate distances of each arm from the center of the galaxy is represented in the lengths of the strands.

Okay, end of my nerdy talk! It is fun to have projects to keep me entertained, outside of the kids! Now I just have to find an excuse to wear them (not around the kids. No jewelry is safe with Bobby around).

Haley,

You are so creative! And no I don't think you're a nerd. We were outside looking at the stars, moon & a few of the planets last night. Justin uses his I-pad to identify whats what. I am pretty much clueless when it comes to all that stuff. I remember learning it in school, but I have forgotten wat to much. I guess I need to get out the old text books & study. Because outerspace is extremely fascinating.
