Twins?

DSC_0078 DSC_0506

Nope…cousins!  Gray and Adeline are about 6 months apart (I think…:).  This picture was taken when Gray was around 3 months old, and Adeline’s picture was taken when she was about 1 month old.  She has gotten chubbier lately and looks even more like this photo of Gray.  I can’t wait to compare them in person this weekend!

The Baby Book Begins

I just started working on Adeline’s baby book scrapbook and I am already so excited about it!  I am doing all the scrapbooking digitally and then I will upload it to an online publisher to print the book.  I found this great website, Shabby Princess, that has all of these fantastic free downloads for papers, embellishments, and alphabets.  They are all so cute and I am amazed at the quality of the images.  I am putting my scrapbook together using Microsoft Publisher, which makes the whole process super easy.  I’m not a big scrapbook fanatic, so I have to look at other people’s samples online to get some layout ideas, but its still my own designs.  Here is the first page that I made.

You Get What You Pay For

So when you get an awesome deal on a beach house directly on Folly Beach in Charleston for a whole month, you get what you pay for!  It’s not quite the beach resort I was hoping for, but at least it can’t get any closer to the beach.  The realtor sent us a couple photos beforehand that were so tiny you couldn’t really see anything.  After “seeing” these photos, we figured it wouldn’t be the Ritz.  Now that we are here, I see why she didn’t send us photos we could actually see.  We have to be extra careful in the bathroom so as not to flood the apartment below us.  According to the post-it notes all over the bathroom, if we move the rugs, or if we turn the shower on too high, we will flood them.  I’m a little nervous each time I step out of the shower that I may just fall through the soggy floor into another apartment!  The realtor mentioned something about the inside being updated, but I can’t see anything that looks like its been updated since 1982.  I think the icing on the cake is the really old peeling wallpaper that is “updated” with scotch tape to hold it on the wall.  I’m not even joking here.  Oh well, the beach is definitely the bright side of this situation and being in Charleston is going to be a lot of fun.

“We don’t like white babies”

We had to go to Sam’s Club the other night to stock up on diapers and decided to combine the trip with our traditional Sam’s Club $4 date night (2 hot dogs, a huge fountain drink, and a cinnamon sugar pretzel).  We found a table right next to a cute little black family with 2 funny little girls who obviously did not realize how loudly they were talking.  Adeline was a little fussy so I was holding her in my lap while we ate.  The 2 little girls (probably about 6 years old) next to us were discussing babies.  Here is how their conversation went:

girl #1:  I once got to rub a baby.  You ever rubbed a baby?

girl #2:  No, but I want to rub that baby. (referring to Adeline)

girl #1:  Go ask them if you can rub that baby.

girl #2:  No, you go ask them!

girl #1:  But we don’t like white babies!

This is the part where I almost choked on my hot dog because I was laughing so hard!  The girls continued to hover and eventually made eye contact.  We smiled at them and one of the girls said “we’re not supposed to talk to strangers” and they both ran to their mom who was in line ordering their food.  After a few minutes the came back and politely asked if they could rub my baby.  I probably crushed their spirits when I told them they could see the baby, but not rub her.  Luckily, she was in the carrier, so it would have been hard to rub her anyway, unless they were planning on rubbing her face.  They ooh-ed and ahh-ed over Adeline for a few minutes (who can blame them?).  I guess they really do like white babies after all!
